As a music video director, Stephen's reputation for 'thinking outside the box' has served him well in the rock and pop field, where he has worked with platinum selling artists as diverse as Creed, Shaggy, and Coldplay's Chris Martin. Along the way he has picked up several Best Video/Best Director Awards, most recently for "So She's Leaving" by The Trews, which was named 'Video of The Year' at the 2006 East Coast Music Awards in his home and native land, Canada.

Whether it is high-energy style, organic storytelling, or mind-blowing visual effects, Stephen always comes to the table with fresh ideas that continually push the boundaries of the medium. "First and foremost I start with the artist and the song – their needs drive my creative process, and then I try to come up with an original 'spin' that will make their video stand out in the crowd. I love to dig into the untapped potential of an artist and reveal things that maybe their audience hasn't seen before. The song usually informs the theme of the video, but I try to 'add layers' rather than go for a more straightforward interpretation of the lyrics".

With a decade's worth of music video and commercials under his belt, Stephen was recently tapped by CMT CANADA to direct their reality series "Plucked" which follows the journey of aspiring country artists as they are 'plucked' from obscurity and groomed by industry professionals for a shot at the 'big league'. The series, which goes to air in the Fall of 2006 touched a chord in Stephen; "I realized that the idea of real people with real stories is at the very core of country music, and there was a genuine heart and soul to this series that is often missing from much of what passes for 'reality' television. It got me thinking that if I could bring everything I've learned about the energy and cutting-edge visual style of the rock video world to country artists, they could connect with their audience in a whole new way – you know, shake things up a bit!"

Within weeks of signing with Picture Vision Pictures, Stephen is getting ready to direct his first video. "It's funny" he remarks, "I've shot over 200 music videos, but I still get as excited as a kid in a candy store when I'm working on a new project, and now it's like I have a whole new candy store to run wild in!".
