Thom also garnered a Nashville Music Awards nomination with "Wild Angels" for 1996 Video of the Year.
Later that same year the Gospel Music Association awarded Thom their highest honor when he received a 1995 Dove Award for Video of the Year in recognition for his expert handling of Cindy Morgan's "I Will Be Free" video for Word Records. By this time, however, Thom had already completed his first short film, Dear Darwin, receiving both writing and directing credits, and a series of ID's and bumpers for CMT that drew a great deal of praise.
